Out of Sight

We’re happy to hear you are interested in joining The Curiosity Collective on Saturday February 16th for

Out of Sight

This event will combine elements of an interactive art project, a psychology experiment, and a good old fashioned party.

Like most dinner parties, we will be sharing good food and meeting new friends…

only this time the experience will take place in the absence of visible light. With the complete loss of vision other senses will be heightened – giving insight into how much of our reality is visual…

and what reality is like for those who cannot see.

Dark Dining is culinary experience that originated in a few special restaurants in Europe, where blind and visually handicapped staff guide sighted dinners through a fine meal in total darkness. (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,901020729-322741,00.html)

If you are interested in joining us for dinner,

and you are not afraid of the dark…

RSVP Rebecca at Info@TheCuriosityCollective.org by Tuesday, February 12th.

Details:

-This is a potluck, let us know if you plan to bring a beverage, appetizer, main dish, or desert.

-To maintain the mystery of the meal for the guests, please name the food you have brought to share in a way that is creatively descriptive but doesn’t actually say what is in the dish... however you should provide a summary of the actual ingredients to Rebecca who is coordinating the food.

-Once everyone has told Rebecca what they are bringing, she will create the menu for the evening, ordering the dishes into Acts.

-One very important detail:

Don’t forget to tell Rebecca any dietary restrictions or allergies you have! We already know we’ll have a few vegetarians and people with food allergies in attendance. She needs to know so she can, for example, (discreetly) warn a vegetarian not to partake in Act VI “Ecstasy over Omaha” (aka peaches wrapped in bacon).  After you RSVP we may ask more detailed information about the ingredients… just in case.
